OPC What is it?

Isotonix OPC-3 is a dietary supplement that ingredients are some of the most powerful bioflavonoids or antioxidants currently known to science. Bioflavonoids’ scientific name is oligomeric proanthocyanidins or more commonly known as OPCs. It is a mouthful!  Saying OPC-3 is much easier!!!

The OPC-3 ingredients are five of the finest and best ingredients on the market.  Each of the ingredients has extensive research behind them which supports the effectiveness of OPC-3.

The ingredients are grape seed, red wine, bilberries, Pycnogenol from pine bark and citrus fruit.  Isotonix OPC-3 contains the only isotonic form of Pycnogenol® in the world. Pycnogenol is a natural plant extract from the bark of the French maritime pine tree grown only along the coast of France.  Pycnogenol has extensive research and is clinically supported.  It is one of the most potent bioflavonoids.

All the ingredients come from high quality sources and with higher concentrations than other brands.

The most important thing about OPC-3 is that it is Isotonic.  This is very important as the body does not have to work as hard to absorb the solution.  By being Isotonic the absorption rate can be greater than 95-97%.  That is amazing as many of the pill forms the absorption rate can be in the single digits.  We have all heard the cases of vitamins in the sewer water.  This is not the case with Isotonics.

But what can the Isotonix OPC-3 do for you?  It is a super antioxidant, twenty times stronger than vitamin C and fifty times stronger than vitamin E.  It has many, many health benefits.  Some of the health benefits include cardiac benefits including helping to maintain healthy cholesterol levels and strengthening the circulatory system (capillaries, veins, and arteries).  Inflammation is another benefit helping to reduce pain in joints, muscles, and over all body aches.  Many individuals with fibromyalgia and arthritis have had benefit from the OPC-3.

Individuals with diabetes have used OPC-3 due to the support of stabilizing blood sugars.

OPC-3 can benefit and support healthy skin and complexions.  It helps to reduce free radicals which can be a contributing factor to acne or skill challenges.

There are many benefits with OPC-3.  Recent literature supports benefits to children especially with asthma, allergies, ADD and ADHD.

OPC-3 is an awesome health supplement.  It has helped countless individuals with a variety of health conditions.  Your pets can even use OPC-3 (pet formula).

H1N1 –Differences between Colds and the Flu

H1N1 –Differences between Colds and the Flu, do you know the differences?  What is really the difference and when should you be concerned?

This year will be one of the worse years for the flu symptoms.  So far 37 children have died of the H1N1.  Emergency rooms all over the country are exploding their doors with patients coming in for flu symptoms.  Recently in Tennessee a tent was set up outside of the Emergency Room to take care of the multitude of patients coming in with signs and symptoms of flu.  Some of the individuals most likely did not need to be there.  What brings individuals to the emergency room?  Fear and the lack of knowledge are two common reasons.  Health care options is the availability of medical treatment ranks high up on the scale but that is a different topic altogether!

When you get a cold symptoms are bothersome but for most people life does not stop.  The flu on the other hand usually knocks people off their feet and his more rapidly.  Cold symptoms on the other hand usually develop over a couple of days.

Fevers are less common with colds and more common with flu.  Most flu symptoms are associated with a fever but not always.  If you have a thermometer take your temperature or the temperature of the ill person or child especially prior to calling the physician or going to the emergency room.  With the flu a temperature of 100 degrees or more can be common.  Children frequently will have a higher temperature.

Coughing is more associated with a cold.  It will typically be a productive cough or mucous producing product.  The flu however usually is not associated with a productive cough.  You may have a cough but will not be coughing up mucous.

Have you ever had the flu and felt every bone and muscle in your body hurt?  It is common with the flu.  The flu brings more aches and pains than a cold.

Think about the last time you had a cold.  I bet you had a plugged up nose.  Typically you cannot breath and may need an over the counter decongestant.  The flu does not usually cause a stuffy nose although you may feel so terrible it may seem like your nose is stuffed.

Being tired is usually associated with the flu more than a cold although you will probably desire sleep.

Sneezing is common with a cold and not the flu.  The cold will bring on sneezing and sniffles.  Over the counter medication can usually help.

Headaches are usually present with the flu and not always with the cold symptoms.  Many individuals however, have sinus pressure which will feel like a headache.

Sore throats are commonly present with colds and not usually seen with the flu.

Last but not least is chest discomfort.  With colds the chest discomfort can be seen with coughing and the muscles used that you did not know you had.  With flu the chest discomfort can be severe.  The flu can exhibit such severe aches and pains often overflowing to the chest.

There is a definite difference between the flu and cold symptoms.  Though neither is fun or desirable, most of the time the flu and cold symptoms can be treated at home.  If you are ever in doubt contact your medical provider.  Your pharmacist can be a valuable resource also to answer questions regarding the best over the counter medications.

While treatment won’t cure ADHD, it can help a great deal with symptoms. The mainstream treatment recommendation is usually psychological counseling, medications or both.

There is another option for the controversial medications prescribed by your physician.  Pycnogenol or Pine Bark Extract is a natural plan extract from the bark of the maritime pine tree which grows exclusively along the coast of southwest France.

Pycnogenol remains one of the most researched ingredients in the natural product marketplace, with over 200 published clinical trials backing its safety and effectiveness.

The Pycnogenol is thought to balance the stress hormones, which lowers adrenaline and dopamine levels in the brain resulting in a reduction of the ADD and ADHD symptoms.

The Pycnogenol has three basic properties; it is a powerful antioxidant, selective collagen and elastin-binding agent, and promoter of normal vasodilatation.

You know a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD can be scary.  Dealing with the symptoms for many parents can be a challenge.   Children often struggle aware of their difficulties.  However, with treatment the symptoms can be controlled.  Before you try the controversial medications prescribed by your physician explore the options for treatment with more of a natural means.
